Amid increasing conviction of China‘s anger, the rulers of the United States and Japan are touting an “enhanced” safety agreement.  ,
President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held a press conference at the Rose Garden on Wednesday, saying,” Our alliance with Japan is strictly defensive in nature.”
” It’s not aimed at any one nation or a threat to the region”, Biden added. ” And it does n’t have anything to do with conflict. The goal is to restore balance in the area.
Under the new arrangement, the U. S. and Japan will enhance a combined base in Tokyo with 54, 000 U. S. troops, set up a joint military council to create more missiles and various weapons, and increase joint research on artificial intelligence. As a deterrent to China, the two nations may also form a security agreement with Australia and the United Kingdom.
A state breakfast was scheduled for Wednesday evening at the White House after Biden and Kishida met at the White House. At a time when Taiwanese and Spanish vessels have had run-ins in the South China Sea, the two are scheduled to meet with Philippines President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday.  ,

Biden claimed to have spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping lately.  ,
