Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ( R- GA ) and Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- LA ) powwowed on Wednesday as Greene continues her threat to oust Johnson for “pass]ing ] the Biden administration’s agenda”.
One day after Greene  escalated her warfare against Johnson by sending a five-page letter to House Republicans, which went into great detail about her grounds for filing , and a motion to resign from the chair on March 22, the nearly hour-long meeting took place.

” ]I ] explained that he is the Republican leader, that he is the leader of the opposition party against the Biden administration, and we expect him to lead that way, not to pass the Biden administration’s agenda”, Greene said upon leaving the Speaker’s office.
The irate Georgia Congresswoman repeatedly reiterated that Johnson’s future will depend on how well he handled the reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and how well Ukraine is funding its sluggish war effort against Russia. She insisted she had not determined when or if she would force a ballot on the movement to depart.
” Those two issues are going to move a lot of members”, she said.
If Johnson funds the deep condition and the illegal eavesdropping on Americans, he is telling Democratic voters all over the country that the ongoing behavior will result in more spying on President Trump and hundreds of thousands of Americans.
FISA’s death in the House remains questionable. Initial plans for Johnson to complete a FISA reauthorization with light changes by Wednesday were abandoned after Greene and Johnson’s appointment on Wednesday afternoon.

Johnson’s choice of course is uncertain, but he insisted after the voting that FISA’s license may be revoked. The agency’s approval ends April 19, although most of the program’s security work may continue for up to a month.
However, significant challenges remain, most notably regarding the inclusion of a law mandating federal agencies to remain surveiling Americans who are subject to foreign surveillance.
No such estimate is included in Johnson’s act, which contributed to the law’s beat on Wednesday. Lacking that requirement, a bipartisan coalition that was opposed to the bill generally led to a resurgence.
Although Johnson had previously fought to prevent for a vote, an amendment to contain warrant requirements would probably pass quickly. Despite his past support for permit requirements, Johnson quickly joined the Biden administration and the knowledge community in opposing the policy.
” He did not give me any guarantees” on the addition of — or an article vote on — a warrant condition, Green said of Johnson, although the concept vote Wednesday may have allowed for an amendment vote.
Donald Trump called on the House to “kill” FISA in a Tuesday evening Truth Social blog, writing , “IT WAS ILLEGALLY USED AGAINST ME, AND MANY OTHERS. THEY SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN!! “!
Trump’s statement, although not mentioning Johnson, likely contributed to the rule’s Wednesday defeat,  , although Greene says Johnson “talked to President Trump last night and did n’t talk to him about FISA”.

If Johnson may manage FISA reauthorization, he will not get a reprieve, as following week he intends to bring a still- announced plan to finance Ukraine to the floor.
Johnson then calls Ukraine money a “priority,” in a reverse that mirrors his previous opposition to funding the country’s war against Russia.
On Wednesday, Greene expressed the concerns of many Republicans by saying the southern boundary may be addressed before considering sending tens of billions to a foreign country that is not an American alliance.
She said to Speaker Johnson,” I made it clear that the United States border is the only border that things” and that he will be personally liable for funding the continued murder of people in a foreign nation that is n’t a NATO ally of ours.
Greene claims she discussed with Johnson about how the government handled its money in addition to FISA and Ukraine. Before he received the gift, Johnson continued on a course of short-term money extensions before passing a two-part large new funding costs in March. The House had already passed seven of the twelve FY 2024 state financing charges.
” We discussed the omnibus, and I explained all the reasons why he failed as our speaker, as the Republican Speaker of the House”, Greene said, lamenting the funding of Biden’s “open border policies”.

As for Johnson’s reasoning for moving the omnibus, Greene says its” classified”.
” I got a lot of excuses]from Johnson ] as to why that happened, talking about being in classified briefings, what he’s being told there”, Greene said.
Greene claims that she was clear about her concerns about Johnson’s leadership without specifying what would trigger the motion to leave.
” I did not give him a red line, and I have been very considerate of my conference, and I’m continuing to be considerate of my conference”, she explained.
She also continued to refute the “lie” that a Democrat would win the seat if she vacated.
” We would not be handing it over to Democrats”, she said. ” We have the majority. The only way for this to occur is if Republicans reject a Republican speaker or vote for Hakeem Jeffries.
Greene expressed optimism that Johnson would change course despite not agreeing to trigger a motion to vacate.
” Past behavior is expectations of future behavior from our Speaker of the House”, Greene said, before asking,” Why would we expect anything different”?
