In a presidential election campaign, Professor Cornel West, an independent member, announced that he has chosen Dr. Melina Abdullah as his working mate.
West announced his choice for his vice presidential candidate on Wednesday during an interview with The Tavis Smiley Show that he had previously chosen Abdullah, a doctor and former president of Pan-Africa Studies at California State University in Los Angeles.
” At this ancient and important time, it is my profound respect to walk alongside my dear girl, Dr. Melina Abdullah, a harsh and tireless activist for truth, justice, and revolutionary change”, West said. ” Sister Melina’s extraordinary courage, strong intellect, and deep perspective have significantly served the cause of liberation in training, employee rights, and both racial and gender righteousness”.

Abdullah is also credited with being one of the co-founders of the Black Lives Matter ( BLM) Los Angeles chapter and as the director of the grassroots organization.
” Her unique analysis and witness helps us confront our crumbling era of empire, white supremacy, and patriarchy”, West added. I look forward to working with her as we strengthen our resolve in our fight for love and truth.
Although Abdullah has never previously held office, she stated that she is “deeply honored and humbled” to run for vice president alongside West.
” This campaign offers a real vision for the world that fights oppressive forces and upholds the foundational values of love, justice, and truth,” Abdullah continued.
A recent poll from Quinnipiac University found that Trump had a slight advantage over West, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein.

Of the people surveyed, 41 percent said they would vote for Trump, 38 percent said they would vote for Biden, 12 percent expressed support for Kennedy, and both West and Stein earned three percent.
When asked about West’s announcement of his running mate, Matthew Corridoni, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee ( DNC )  , told the New York Times that “only two candidates have a path to 270 electoral votes, President Biden and Donald Trump”.
The stakes are high, and we are aware that this election will be close; therefore, a vote for any third-party candidate is also a vote for Donald Trump, Corridoni told the outlet.
West and Corridoni reached out to Breitbart News for a statement, but the publication’s deadline for a response was not reached.
