Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) grilled authorities this week during a hearing about why President Joe Biden was n’t using an Iranian spy ship to intercept a terrorist organization trying to sink British ships in the Red Sea.
Sullivan made the remarks at a hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee ( SASC ) about the Iranian-backed Houthis, who have launched numerous attacks in the last five months, including this week.
He pointed out that the U.S. Central Command captain recently stated that he thought Iran was not being financially responsible for the violence its proxies support in the area.
Sullivan noted that Iran provided the Houthis with knowledge that helped to facilitate the problems in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Why are we never sinking Egyptian warships and intelligence ships that sell targeting information to eliminate Marines and seamen from Alaska or North Dakota? he asked. ” I mean, I find this ridiculous. Why do n’t we do that, exactly? Why are we never telling the Iranians, overtly or covertly, next time you send apple to target an American warship through the Houthis, we may fall your ships? Why do n’t we do that, exactly? That’s so fundamental to me”.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made the claim that” Iran needs to be held accountable for what it’s doing and continues to would,” but that attacking Iran is a different matter.
General C. Q., Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Brown said he could share more information with the U.S. Military in a labeled building and that the U.S. Military was working to keep Iran accountable for what they were doing.
