Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s husband Chasten Buttigieg said Friday  , on MSNBC” Deadline” that Republicans were telling suicidal LGBTQ people to “pull the trigger”.
Guest Nicolle Wallace said,” I think that’s exactly right. I keep having Amanda , Zurawski , up, the girl in Texas who was female and named her daughter Willow. At 18 months, she nearly died from fever. It’s a history that is genuine. It’s a girl who very much wanted her conception. Because it does n’t fit into the mold, extremist Republicans ‘ policies on abortion are this inconvenient tidbit for Republicans because of it. What are the stakes in this vote if you love a girl, are a woman, know a person, or have a child?
Buttigieg said,” It requires a lot of risk. Although it’s very difficult, for me, being able to develop into this man was a revelation. When I was 13, 14 years old and sitting in my mother’s room, I would stare at my husband’s gun case and I thought that was the only means out. I do not understand love. I did not understand family. I did not understand community. I believed I was the only homosexual person on earth. I sensed that the universe was telling me to pull the trigger. I think the election is largely about one member looking at that person and saying,” I’ve got your back,” and another who surrounds himself with people who actively urge you to pull the trigger. That’s what they believe. They do not help LGTBQ individuals. They do not provide for communities like my own. They are not constantly improving or making life better or safer for people in this country, including children like my own, people like my own, and many others.
