The” Chaparral Bridge” south of the border in Tijuana’s reopening has been delayed by another three months.
Tijuana’s Mayor, Montserrat Caballero, told reporters on Thursday that maintenance on the gate are never finished.
The mayor said,” It wo n’t be until June when we can use the bridge once more.”
The gate was discovered to be in danger of collapsing and in need of a upgrade at the beginning of next year when a large hole formed on it.
Maintenance began a few months afterward.
Montserrat said the gate, actually constructed by Mexico’s national government, may be repaired using city funding at a cost of 75 million pesos, around$ 4.4 million.
Although Montserrat claims more fundamental injury has been discovered along the way, making the project need to be completed in January of this year, the initiative was scheduled to be completed in January of this year.
Individuals traveling to and from the San Ysidro Port of Entry are relying on the bridge as a crucial link.
Its closing, according to reports, is one of the causes of the increased difficulties and traffic congestion in the area south of the border.
Westbound border visitors into Tijuana currently takes up to three hours each night in the evenings.
