A new poll found that nearly a third ( 32 % ) of Florida voters are “uncertain” about how to vote on a ballot initiative that would grant birth control up until 24 weeks of pregnancy.  ,
According to the Emerson College Polling survey conducted on Thursday, 42 % of Florida voters plan to cast a ballot in favor of the act, while 25 % intend to cast a little. The measure’s 42 % support falls almost 20 points short of the 60 percent supermajority required for passage.  ,
According to Spencer Kimball, executive producer of Emerson College Polling,” Fifty-six percentage of Democrats and 44 percentage of politicians plan to cast ballots in favor of a legal right to abortion before maternal viability.” ” Democrats are more broken: 36 percent plan to vote no, 30 percentage indeed, and 34 percent are doubtful”.
The proposed act, which is supported by Florida’s Protecting Freedom, a coalition of left-wing organizations like Planned Parenthood and the Florida ACLU, is intended to end abortion before the patient is viable ( about 24 weeks ) or” when necessary to protect the victim’s health, as determined by the patient’s medical provider.
According to state officials, the abortion activists who are in favor of the estimate will now seem as” Amendment 4″ on the general election ballot after exceeding the required amount of names in January.
On April 1, the Florida Supreme Court issued two important decisions, upholding a 15- year control on contraception in the state while even allowing a , proposed abortion amendment , to appear on the ballot in November.
The country’s six-week abortion cap will now go into effect thanks to the judge’s decision to allow the 15-week reduce to remain in place. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ( R )  , signed , the 15- week limit in 2022, which Planned Parenthood affiliates in the state almost immediately challenged in court. DeSantis then , signed , the six- year Heartbeat Bill in April 2023, which contains exceptions for murder, adultery, and the lifestyle of the family. The state Supreme Court, , allowed the six-week ban to continue until it could act on the 15-week ban.
If Florida’s voters approve the amendment with at least 60 % of the vote in November, it would repeal the six-week ban and, in essence, establish a position with a permanent right to abortion that could only be undone by passing another ballot measure or a difficult legal battle.
Nearly 60 percent of surveys respondents ( 57 percent ) say the six- year pregnancy control is” to strict”, according to the study. 15 percent of people believe the law is too tight, and 28 percent believe the law is on correctly.
” Regarding the current 15- year restrictions, 43 percent think it is too tight, 21 percent think it is no rigid enough, and 36 percent think it is about proper”, according to the survey report.  ,
Fifty- nine percentage of Florida voters says they are more encouraged than in past elections, while 13 percent are less determined, and 28 percent feel about the same.
In a matchup between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, Florida voters overwhelmingly support Trump 51 percent to 38 percent, and 11 percent are undecided.
” With the candidate undecided voters lean toward allocated, Trump’s overall support increases to 56 percent, and Biden to 44 percent”, according to the survey report.  ,
In addition, respondents were asked to comment on the issues that are most important to them ahead of the November elections. Respondents rate the economy at 27 percent, followed by immigration at 14 percent and housing affordability at 16 percent. Roughly 10 percent of Florida voters say “abortion access” is their top issue, the poll found.  ,
The survey was conducted April 9- 10, 2024 with 1, 000 registered voters and has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
