The U.S. Postal Service has suggested adding an additional cost to its always stamps, which have consistently increased in price to counteract prices.
The previously proposed amount would increase the cost of stamps by a little less than 8 %, increasing the cost by 68 percent to 73 percent. Postcards and letters being sent abroad are among the other mailing products affected by this increase.
The Postal Service has made the case that these rate increases are necessary to keep up with prices while adding that they will be periodically reviewed before being commissioned.
If approved, the new charges will remain implemented starting July 14.
