President Joe Biden’s administration is expected to spend$ 300 million on behalf of several sanctuary cities and non-governmental organizations ( NGOs ) in resettling illegal immigrants across the country.
On Friday, Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that certain cities and NGOs will soon receive$ 300 million worth of federal grants via , the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s ( FEMA )  , Shelter and Services Program ( SSP).
SSP, which was established by the Biden administration and is funded by Congress, was established to distribute taxpayer funds to towns and NGOs that assist immigrants who are being resettled after crossing the southern border into the country.
Mayorkas stated in his announcement that about$ 275 million would soon be distributed to cities and NGOs, and that the remaining$ 25 million would be distributed toward the end of the year. Another almost$ 341 million may be awarded through SSP’s competitive grants.
The most recent recipients of tax money are cities and Charities that help the Biden administration relocate immigrants.
Through SSP and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program ( EFSP), a program launched in the late 1980s to assist the homeless Americans, DHS provided these cities and NGOs with more than$ 78 million in funding alone last year.
According to the latest Congressional Budget Office ( CBO ) estimate, published in January, the Biden administration has released 6.2 million migrants into the U. S. interior since early 2021.
