The pilot who was detained in connection with a deadly car crash that claimed the life of a senator in Nevada has been identified as an illegal immigrant who entered the country while President Joe Biden was in office, according to the Washington Examiner.

Authorities in Reno charged Elmer Rueda-Linares, 18, for running off from the page where he crashed into another car, resulting in the death of Kurt Englehart, the express top adviser to Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV ).

Then, U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed to the Washington Examiner that during Biden’s initial two months in office, Rueda-Linares illegally entered the United States from Mexico.

Rueda-Linares crashed at 4:30 a. m. on April 6, according to authorities. Neither vehicle was intoxicated or moving at the same speed, nor did the officers know if Englehart was the customer or the drivers in the second vehicle.

Rueda-Linares came over the borders into Rio Grande City, Texas, on March 12, 2021.

Kurt Englehart, a senior employee for Sen., was killed in a car accident that led to Elmer Rueda-Linares ‘ arrest and being charged with fleeing the scene of the incident. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV ). ( Washoe County Sheriff’s Department )

Because he spent 100 days in federal prison before being released into the United States, Rueda-Linares would have been 14 or 15 when he had crossed the border, probably without a family. S. indicating that national authorities were searching for an adult to relieve him from confinement.

He was detained by United States Customs and Border Protection, and he was eventually released on his own accord on June 22, 2021, according to an ICE spokesperson in an email to the Washington Examiner.

Border Patrol agents from the Department of Homeland Security first apprehend unaccompanied migrant children who arrive only, and the government then moves them to the Department of Health and Human Services for maintenance as it searches for an adult to relieve the baby.

Rueda-Linares was detained more than three times during the 30-day minimum, according to the HHS website.

Cortez Masto stated in a statement that her team was devastated by Englehart’s passing and that “he touched many lives ” while serving as a public servant. Eight years prior to joining Cortez Masto, Englehart worked in her office and on her campaign.

An aide to the senator said he would wait the outcome of legal proceedings despite the fact that the senator has not personally responded to the incident involving an illegal immigrant.

Senator Cortez Masto anticipates receiving justice and has faith in the neighborhood’s police and prosecutors, according to a statement from a Cortez Masto spokesman Lauren Wodarski on Thursday in an email.

Cortez Masto received criticism from former acting ICE Director Tom Homan.

Homan wrote in a text message to the Washington Examiner on Thursday evening,” She truly is not an honest representative of the taxpayers in her district” if she refuses to acknowledge that the historic open border has n’t caused many Americans to die by people who are n’t supposed to be here and that she disrespected this country by committing the crime of illegal entry.

We will honor her staffer who was killed by one of these criminals in about 9 months when the Trump administration will hold these individuals accountable and deport them as required by the law, a law written by Congress, Homan said. A law that she does not understand or accept completely. ”

Rueda-Linares was initially charged with a fatal hit-and-run, but police dropped the charge in place of fleeing the scene.

Before a judge decides whether he will be deported, ICE requested that the local police at the Washoe County Jail hold him in custody until he can be transferred to federal police, who will detain him before moving him to a federal jail.

ICE requested local police contact them and hold Rueda-Linares for 48 hours should he make his$ 100,000 bail.
