State Dept.: U.S. Will Veto Palestinian Statehood at United Nations

Vedant Patel, the deputy assistant press secretary for the State Department, confirmed on Thursday that the U.S. S. will reject a UN Security Council resolution that would have allowed Palestinians to obtain sovereignty.

John Kirby, a spokesman for the White House’s regional security, had previously dodged a question about whether the U.S. was in trouble. S. would reject such a solution, stating only that the administration believed that discussions were the only way to a statehood.

However, Patel made explicit reference to the administration’s reject pledge, noting that members of the UN Security Council disagreed on whether the Palestinians complied with fundamental standards for independence.

He added that the current U.S. S. If the Palestinians used the UN to consider a position, UN money would have to be discontinued.

As part of a comprehensive Middle Eastern peace agreement that would bring standardized relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia, the Biden presidency continues to push for a Palestinian state. ( Such a deal was near completion, without a Palestinian state, in the weeks before the Hamas terror attack of October 7, 2023. )

The majority of Israelis voted in favor of a Palestinian state ten years ago, but the majority of Israelis then oppose the idea. Hamas ‘ evil encounter has had a profound impact on public opinion.

In 1947, the United Nations voted to split the British Mission of Palestine into an Arab and a Jewish condition. Israel later declared its independence, but the Israeli Arabs rejected split and opted for battle, as did the nearby Muslim says. Since then, Arab resistance has continued: more Palestinian energy and effort are expended attacking and protesting Israel than the required institutions to establish statehood.
