Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA ) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week ” that he would vote to stand any movement to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) because he advanced a international aid package that includes independent expenses to support Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine.
Does Speaker Johnson deserve payment for how this turned out, as number Jonathan Karl said in the phrase” Congressman Khanna”? ”
Khanna said, “ He does. Look, we came into Congress along and he always cared about politeness. He basically spearheaded the politeness campaign. And he – we had one problem, which was offer specific votes. Don’t pile stuff up. And I give him credit for doing this. I had really vote to put forth a motion to remove him. You know, Congressman McCaul quoted Churchill. Churchill once said that America always had the bad idea until it made the right decision. And this demonstrates how robust American politics is. ”
Karl said, “You just said something important. You vowed to reject the movement to rescind it. In other words, if Marjorie Taylor Greene and the others threaten to try to eliminate Speaker Johnson, did you defend his work? ”
Khanna said, “ I had, through the end of the term. Speaker Jeffries ‘ presence is anticipated in 2025, in my opinion.
Karl said, “Right – no – speaker, yes. Yes.
However, I am a democratic Democrat, and I believe there are a few liberal Democrats out there who would agree. And I have been extremely critical of Speaker Johnson and disagree with him on several issues. But he made the right decision in this situation, and he deserves to continue doing his work until the end of his term. ”
