Regionally challenged Rep. Prior to the House passing a$ 61 billion aid bill to Ukraine, Governor Gary Connolly (D-VA ) asserted from the House floor on Saturday.
Before considering foreign aid, Connolly criticized Republicans who advocated for the southern border ( the actual US border ), a position that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) had long held before he suspectly changed his mind following a White House visit on February 28, 2024.
“Some say, ‘ Well, we have to deal with our border first, ‘” Connolly said from the House floor. Our boundary is the Ukrainian-Russian borders, yo! ”
Republicans, exasperated after decades of fighting Ukraine support only to be betrayed by their own Speaker, pointed out the awfulness of Connolly’s screed.
“The America Next Uniparty in a nutshell, ” Rep. Andrew Clyde lamented in reply. On X, Clyde shared the incredible picture.
Connolly’s geographical lesson did n’t stop it. “It’s the boundary between wicked monarchy and freedom-loving people seeking our political way of life, ” he continued. “Do we have a interest in that goal? Yes, definitely yes. ”

But his state was not “undeniable ” to the majority of Republicans, with 112 voting against the Ukraine aid and just 101 for it. Johnson supported the act, once violating the Hastert Rule, while siding with Connolly and the other Democrats.
Certainly all America’s edges are equally deserving of attention in Connolly’s see, obviously. He voted against a costs Saturday to safe America’s southern border.
It needed two-thirds of the vote to go because Johnson chose to move the frontier costs while the laws were being suspended. It received lot assistance but failed by a 215 to 199 voting.
