Joe Biden reiterated his commitment to combat climate change and encourage new alternative energy technologies as Earth Day 2024 came to an end.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA ), and Rep. The three progressives, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), and some of the most vocal members of Congress calling for clean power. In anticipation of a small 2024 election, former president Donald Trump faces a fresh voter with little support for his management of the Israeli occupation of Gaza and an obvious failure to fulfill various progressive policy promises he made on the campaign trail, including those regarding climate change.
“This leader is overseeing the second biggest national investment in tackling the climate crisis in our nation’s past, ” Ocasio-Cortez said ahead of Biden’s notes.
The leader urged young persons to enroll in the new system called the American Climate Corps, which aims to prepare students for positions in culture and clean energy jobs, as he made his speech at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia, where he unveiled$ 7 billion in novel offers for renewable projects.
“You know, I learned a long time ago to listen to that lady, ” Biden said, referencing Ocasio-Cortez, the author of the liberal climate want list known as the Green New Deal. The announcement today builds on an extraordinary historic step we’ve already taken to combat the climate crisis, promote climate justice, and create a clean energy future. ”
Also, the president criticized his “Republican friends” and others who “deny the weather is in crisis.” ”
“I’m never making it up. It’s genuine. Really listen to what they say, ” he said. Anyone in or out of state who deliberately denies the effects of climate change is, I may add, condemning the American citizens to a very dangerous potential and the globe. They want to get us forward, side our employees, let China and others lead the competition for fresh energy. I’m determined, absolutely determined, we move forward. ”
The new grants are funded by Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, and White House officials estimate that they will save 200,000 new jobs nationwide in addition to saving Americans ‘ households an average of$ 400 annually.
“We’re opening up a market where everybody, no matter their ZIP code or their economic background, can tap into the savings opportunity that clean energy represents, ” a senior administration official told reporters ahead of the president ’s remarks.
