Jewish professor denied entrance to pro-Palestinian encampment
Jewish students were reportedly told to flee campus as unrest at Columbia University continued.
Campus Rabbi Elie Buechler told students in a group chat: “The events of the past few days, especially last night, have made it clear that Columbia University’s Public Safety and the NYPD cannot guarantee Jewish students’ safety in the face of extreme antisemitism and anarchy,” according to the Columbia Spectator.
Pro-Palestinian students have reportedly set up an encampment, despite law enforcement clearing the tent city last week. Arrested students included Rep. Ilhan Omar’s daughter, as previously reported by The College Fix.
Video on social media appeared to show a Jewish professor being barred from entering the zone.
Jewish Professor DENIED entry at Columbia University, where he works as an assistant professor, after Palestinian activists blocked all Jews from entering.
Staff at the university also deactivated his access card.

New York politicians, including Democratic Mayor Eric Adams and Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul have also condemned the situation.

“I am horrified and disgusted with the antisemitism being spewed at and around the Columbia University campus,” Mayor Adams wrote on X. “Hate has no place in our city, and I have instructed the NYPD to investigate any violation of law they receive a report about and will arrest anyone found to be breaking the law.”
“This morning I went to Columbia University and convened City Hall, NYPD & Columbia’s President to discuss the need to fight antisemitism and protect public safety,” Governor Hochul wrote Monday morning on X.
“The recent harassment and rhetoric is vile and abhorrent. Every student deserves to be safe.”
