Officers from the New York Police Department ( NYPD ) reportedly began making arrests amongst a group of anti-Israel activists around 8:30 p. m. , according to the New York Times.
According to the report, the arrests occurred after NYU officials issued a warning to protesters that they could face possible consequences if they did not leave the school courtyard.
After school officials claimed the anti-Israel protesters had breached walls and were acting in a “disorderly, destructive, and antagonizing fashion, ” officers apparently moved in to make prosecutions. ”

The detention at NYU occurred as anti-Israel demonstrators at Yale University were detained on Monday morning in connection with their role in an camp on the college campus.

The White House issued a statement on Sunday labeling the anti-Israel demonstrations “Antisemitic, unconscionable, and risky. ” President Joe Biden issued a separate statement addressing the anti-Israel protests and the “alarming surge of Antisemitism ” happening in “schools, communities, and online. ”
In his speech, Biden continued to attribute the anti-Israel demonstrations as being “blatant Antisemitism ” that is “reprehensible and dangerous. ”
