Base conservatives are frustrated with House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA ) decision to proceed with a foreign aid package in opposition to some members of the House Republican caucus and without any concessions to border security.
But, Rep. Republican-led (R-AL ) members are warned that if some GOP House members rebel against Johnson and attempt to remove him, they will face opposition from the Christian community.
During an appointment on Mobile, AL radio’s FM Chat 106. Carl praised Johnson at 5 on Monday and foretold the implications for those who rebelled against him.
“ What they’re doing there is they’re trying to build a coalition against Mike Johnson, ” he said. “And I’ll tell you everything: Mike Johnson may not be ideal. I believe that Jesus Christ was the only man ever recorded, and they subsequently crucified him for it. But Mike Johnson is far from ideal, but he is a great man. He is a good-hearted person. He is excited about and cares about his nation. He’s intelligent enough to grasp he can’t get them all. But he is intelligent enough to understand that you must keep the ball moving. ”
“ In politicians, you can’t just sit still and keep latent because people will turn on you quickly. Mike made the decision to proceed. Is he straight or is he bad? History will show. Because some of us believe the country needs to be more closely watched, for lack of a better term, I heard him say history will show me whether I was right or wrong when he said it. But if they turn on Mike Johnson, you’re going to see the Christian group come out after them, ” Carl continued. “ I think right now, they’re really filling their treasury with money. They’ve got that ‘1-800-send-me-your-money ’ line going wide-open of those$ 25 and$ 50 donations. That’s who they’re targeting that towards. They’re getting on Television. They’re keeping their basic stirred up. Because you have a man in there who is really trying, I believe their bottom is beginning to turn on them a little bit. ”
