NEW DELHI: M Krishnan, a 40-year-old Indian-origin wedded man, was sentenced to 20 years in jail on Monday for criminal homicide no amounting to death of his partner, Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman, 40. Krishnan punched and kicked Mallika, who died on January 17, 2019, according to her partnership with other people. Last week, Krishnan admitted guilt in Singapore’s high court, as reported by” TODAY” newspaper on Monday.
Justice Valerie Thean pointed out that Krishnan had promised to change in 2018 while he was undergoing his retribution for another infraction of abusing officers soldiers, but he continued to misuse his wife and girlfriend. She also made it clear that liquor had also had an impact on Krishnan’s behavior, despite the harsh actions that his intermittent violent disorder had caused. The accused knew he was prone to showing his anger in morally unacceptable ways despite having been diagnosed with the problem after the crime due to his previous encounters with the rules.
In 2015, Krishnan started an adulterous affair with Mallika, who had two sons from her previous relationships, Singapore rules see reported.
Krishnan and Mallika were seen drinking beer in the master bedroom when his wife returned home in November that time. Upset, she cursed at Krishnan, who responded by striking her in the face and reaching for a vodka drink. She apologized and then requested a specific police protection buy for herself after he worried he might put it at her. She is also married to him, Singapore rules see reported.
Up until Mallika’s passing, Krishna and Mallika remained close. Krishnan when “over a trifling matter” in 2017 according to court records.
After Mallika admitted having sexual relations with many people, including when Krishnan was in prison in 2018, the abuse grew even more severe. After she admitted to cheating while drinking beer in their shared house, Krishnan assaulted Mallika on January 15, 2019. Mallika was discovered with a number of bruises and scratches the day after going to a doctor for medical treatment.
On the night of January 16, 2019, Krishnan, feeling angry and frustrated over Mallika’s several matters, assaulted her once. He slapped her mouth, grabbed her by her tresses, and punched and kicked her. He called the Singapore civil defense force after realizing she was hardly breathing or responsive, but the responders afterward declared Mallika dead. She had some bruises and ribs that had been broken during an examination, which revealed that she had died from a brain injury.
Timotheus Koh, deputy public prosecutor, requested a sentence of 15 to 18 years in prison during punishment, urging the jury to” give a clear message that the courts do not tolerate violence of this nature.” Krishnan’s attorney argued that his customer had pleaded guilty quick, surrendered to authorities, and fully cooperated during studies. He also mentioned that Mallika’s connections with other people had impacted his view and that Krishnan had been able to control how much alcohol he consumed.
