American who was held captive by Hamas | The Hill meets with Biden, age 4, at the same time.

President Biden addresses law enforcement officials in the State Dining Room of the White House in Washington on February 28, 2024.
Abigail Edan, a 4-year-old who was held by Hamas in Gaza and released next November as part of a captive package, was met with President Biden at the White House on Wednesday.
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan described the meeting as a moment of joy as well as a warning for Biden of the work that needs to be done as different victims are still being held by Hamas decades after its terrorist attacks against Israel in October.
” She was able to get returned safely to her home, which was a moment of joy,” Sullivan said. And I believe the president’s most significant point was that it served as a reminder of the work still to be done and how crucial it is for him and the government to do everything in their power to secure a cease-fire and prisoner agreement so that everyone can return home.
The families of Edan and her sisters were killed in Israel’s terrorist attacks on October 7. The youngest American resident who was held captive by Hamas following those episodes was Dan. She has two Zionist- U. S. citizenship.
She was one of the victims who was freed from Gaza in a momentary halt of the fighting in November. Biden spoke with her immediate family at the time.
The United States is also pushing for a second delay in the conflict between Israel and Hamas to release the victims who have been taken hostage in Gaza, where hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military procedures in response to the attacks on October 7.
More than 100 individuals are still being detained in Gaza, according to Israeli authorities. As many as six of the victims are U. S. people.
