Pope Francis calls for harmony in Ukraine, Gaza:’ A negotiated harmony is better than a war without end’ | The Hill

Pope Francis celebrates Easter size in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Pope Francis demanded harmony in the conflicts in the Ukraine and Gaza in his first in-depth meeting with a U.S. system, and he argued that a “negotiated peace” was preferable to an ongoing conflict.
” Delight. Countries at war, all of them, stop the war. Look to communicate. Look for serenity”, the Pope said in an interview with CBS News on Wednesday.
The Pope has made frequent mention of it in his speeches since the fight broke out next year about stopping the Israel-Hamas conflict and saving the citizens in Gaza.
He said every day around 7 p. m. he calls Gaza to the church. Approximately 600 people post updates on the state of the situation in Gaza.
” It’s very difficult, very, very difficult. Food goes in, but they have to struggle for it”, he said. ” It’s very hard”.
When asked if he could assist in Hamas and Israel’s negotiations for peace, he responded that he could and has “prayed a bit” about it.
Since Hamas invaded Israel on Oct. 7 and Israel launched its facta, more than 34, 000 Palestinians have died.
According to the United Nations, more than one million persons will be facing hunger in Gaza, many of them children. The U.S. will build a temporary port along the coast of Gaza, according to President Biden’s announcement last month, but authorities claim it wo n’t be nearly enough.
Pope Francis urged the world to consider the children who have spent more than two years living in war-torn locations in addition to the kids in Gaza.
” Those kids do n’t know how to smile. I tell them everything and they forgot how to smile”, he said. And when a baby forgets to smile, it’s quite difficult.
” That’s really quite serious, very severe”, the Pope said.
He claimed that Vladimir Putin should start the conflict and look for ways to reach peace in his message to the leader.
