Following a damning report that found that such treatments were carried out on” weak bases,” a group of top clinical psychologists have apologized for the part their field played in the development of transgender “medical” treatments for children in the UK.

The entrance comes in response to a leading , paediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass ‘ review, which claimed that the NHS should no longer offer puberty-blocking medications to children under the age of 18 because many of those’ prescriptions were “built on shaky underpinnings.”

The Cass report continued, adding that there is little proof to support the alleged “gender affirming” claim that hormone-modifying drugs have improved children’s mental health and that there has n’t been much research into the effects of such drugs on their cognitive and psychosexual development as they get older.

Cass argued that the treatments offered by Tavistock , were ,” not a safe or viable long- term option” for children.
The clinic has long been criticized for the apparent lax standards used to determine whether children exhibit signs of transgenderism. In 2022, former governor of the , Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, Dr. David Bell, whistleblowing, revealing that staff would make such decisions based on flimsy evidence, such as if young girls failed to show interest in , “pink ribbons and dollies.”
A re-examination of a 2011 study from , University College London Hospitals (UCLH), and the Tavistock Centre last year overturned the original claims. Professor of Psychology at the University of Essex Susan McPherson and social scientist David Freedman found that 34 per cent of children who had been given puberty-blockers saw their mental health “reliably deteriorate.”
While many in the United States continue to advocate for medical interventions for allegedly transgender children, there is a growing consensus in Europe against the practice, with progressive countries such as , Denmark,  , Finland, Norway, Sweden, and the UK having all begun to restrict transgender treatments for children. A report released last month by French senators called for the use of life-altering transgender drugs in children to be regarded as one of the “greatest ethical scandals in medical history” and forbid the practice in France as well.
