The Immigration Reform Law Institute ( IRLI ) is suing President Joe Biden’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) for withholding internal agency data regarding its strategy to elude arresting illegal immigrants.
After failing to respond to a Freedom of Information Act ( FOIA ) request, IRLI’s Dale Wilcox announced on Thursday that the watchdog group is suing ICE.
In response to that request, ICE was required to provide inner info and emails detailing how the agency chooses when to publish a fugitive or illegal alien’s identity in press releases.
Under former President Donald Trump, ICE named 97 percent of legal improper creatures identified in press releases, compared to 67 percent under former President Biden, who were only named in press releases.
According to IRLI Director of Investigations Matt O’Brien, “ICE’s abrupt decision to remove the names of mysterious offenders from push releases appears to be a deliberate attempt to prevent the public from determining whether harmful foreign criminals have been expelled from the United States.” ” That’s somewhat hypocritical coming from an leadership that claims to be the most visible in the history of the United States.” S”.
Most just, for example, ICE issued a press release that detailed the arrest of an unnamed 27- year- ancient illegal alien from Ecuador who has been convicted of next- degree assault and indecent assault of a child in Danbury, Connecticut.
In another, Glacier detailed the event of a 32- yr- old Dominican improper alien who was convicted in Waterbury, Connecticut of trafficking cocaine. Despite the judgment, the unlawful alien’s identity was never revealed.
Even in the most heinous criminal circumstances, ICE refuses to identify suspected illegal aliens. For example, a 20- year- ancient Portuguese national was arrested by the agency this month after he was charged with raping a child in Milford, Massachusetts. The man’s name was not provided.
According to Wilcox,” this is yet another shameless attempt by the current administration to conceal the disastrous effects of its immigration policies.”
Watchdog groups will have a harder time holding this White House accountable for their devastation because not including the names of criminal immigration violators is effectively flushing their cases down the memory hole. The American people need more information about this issue. ]Emphasis added]
The case is Immigration Reform Law Institute v. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, No. 24- cv- 1101 in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
