More than 30 Uber Eats vehicles protested on Wednesday, outraged that the company no longer provides bonuses for individuals who work late and during peak shipping times.
One of the demonstrators, Isidro Jarez, claimed he has been delivering meals for Uber Eats for four years.
He claimed earlier this week that the company had discontinued its payouts without a notification to individuals.
” It’s a fee that helps us pay for some of our expenses”, said Júarez. They typically charge us a fee to work during high traffic hours to ensure that restaurants are n’t stuck with the food and are picked up and delivered.
Járez did not make his mouth public out of fear.
He claimed that company personnel in a different Tijuana neighborhood wrote down license plates and photographed the demonstrators during a comparable opposition.
” They used the information to block some of our accounts and blackballed some drivers, that’s why you do n’t see more people protesting”.
Some protesters carried indicators that read” good payments Uber” and “adjust the fees for prices.”
MartÃn Cortez, another pilot, said the “late day and top hour” extra helps them earn extra money to help offset the cost of maintaining their scooters.
” This means a loss of income of up to 70 percent”, said Cortez. ” We do n’t have insurance, when we have an accident Uber does n’t help us, if you get injured, it wo n’t pay our medical expenses”.
Jarez claimed that the business has been phoning them and is not engaging in negotiations with them.
When you call their workplaces, they simply say that there is nothing they can do for them and that they advise sending official complaints to headquarters via email to let them know how unhappy we are with the change.
Border Report contacted Uber Eats ‘ media company to inquire about the concerns and problems of the drivers, but our calls were not returned.
