Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is present at a Cabinet conference in Jerusalem on December 10, 2023. The perimeter of Netanyahu’s home is closing in, and he is putting a lot of pressure on the United States to stop a human disaster in Gaza’s southern town of Rafa.

A new poll found that an increasing number of Americans have much faith in Israeli Prime Minister Netaynahu’s management of international affairs.

According to a new report released on Thursday by Pew Research Center, 53 % of Americans said they had no faith in Netanyahu when it came to doing the “right thing” in terms of international affairs, including 25 % who said they had no faith in him at all.

Americans who do n’t trust the Israeli prime minister have an increase of 11 percentage points since last year, when 42 % of Americans also have confidence in him.

Only 9 percent of U. S. adults in the latest survey said they have” a lot” of confidence in his handling of world affairs, while 21 percent said they have some, Pew found. These are minor changes from last year, when 24 % said they have some trust and 8 % said they have a bit.

The middle speculated that a change in understanding of Netanyahu may be to blame for the decline in confidence. Only about 15 % of Americans said the same thing this year, while 26 % of Americans said they had never heard of him in 2023.

The results come as Netanyahu faces mounting investigation over Israel’s military military battle in Gaza, which has killed more than 34, 000 Palestinians since early October, according to local health authorities.

He has resisted claims that Israel is not protecting human existence and has pledged to work harder to stop the Palestinian militant Hamas, which has been in power in Gaza since 2007, from threatening Israel.

Since Hamas launched a shock assault on southwestern Israel last October, in which about 1, 200 people were killed and about 250 others were taken hostage, the conflict has raged on for almost seven months. Despite growing pressure from world leaders, cease-fire conversations continue to be in ruins.

According to Pew, Americans ‘ opinions of Netanyahu varied widely depending on their political views. Republicans and Republican-leaning independents have significantly higher views of the Jewish leader than Democrats and Republicans, who lean Democratic, between 51 and 13 percent.

Compared to the poll’s results, about 38 % of Democrats and Democratic leaners said they had no faith in Netanyahu at all, compared to 13 % of Republicans.

Opinions also vary depending on the age, with older American more likely than younger to approve of Netanyahu.

About a third of Americans between the ages of 30 and 49 said the same while 42 percent of those 50 and older said they had at least some faith in him to handle earth politics. Just 13 percent of people under 30 have at least some respect, per the study.

The Pew Research Center poll was conducted April 1- 7 among 3, 600 U. S. individuals. The error margin is 2.1 percent positions plus or minus.
