On Wednesday’s spread of MSNBC’s” Alex Wagner Tonight”, Rep. Ilhan Omar ( D- MN) stated that House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson’s ( R- LA ) visit to Columbia was to” mix up really more anger and hate and damage the lives of young people who are at that camp at Columbia University”.
Omar said,” This is a person who is holding onto his candidacy. It is not astonishing that he would leave Columbia University and stoke much more rage, hate, and endanger the lives of the young people who are at that campsite. He is aware that he might be on the cutting wall.
She added,” These people do not care about violent protests. They do n’t care about]the ] 1st Amendment. They care about performing their social drama, which is what they, most of the time, do. These are the people who on January 6 supported insurrectionists, who threatened our coworkers ‘ lifestyles and those of my family, and who also threatened the peaceful transfer of power. It is truly amazing that they call for the National Guard to arrive nowadays and that they want to be taken seriously. This group of people is also the first to criticize different nations as authoritarians when they call on the defense to halt peaceful protests and protesters who are standing up for human rights, and protesters who are using their own assets and tax dollars to support what is currently being hailed as a murder that Israel is perpetrating against the persons of Gaza.
Omar continued,” I want people to really understand why these boys are risking their academic performance and ability to stay in good position at their institutions. They are worried what it means to grow up in a world where people can view nearly 35, 000 people be killed, to see nearly 70 % of them be children and women, to see the loss of 80 % of system, to see a country withhold water, food, electricity, to die people, and carry out collective punishment. Israel is facing charges of genocide and being detained in front of foreign courts. These kids do n’t want us to be complacent”.
