Putin should be wary of a conflict with NATO, according to Poland’s foreign secretary | The Hill
In a statement Thursday, Poland’s Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski said Russian President Vladimir Putin may worry a conflict with NATO as it would eventually end in Russia’s fight.
” It is not we, the West, who should dread a fight with Putin, but the other way around”, Sikorski said in a translated talk to the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, initially reported by Politico. Because NATO is a defensive alliance, it is worthwhile to remind people that an invasion by Russia on any of the Alliance people will result in [Russia’s ] unavoidable battle.
American allies worry that Russia will change its attention to NATO nations after Ukraine as the conflict in Ukraine gets going on. If a NATO country were to win a battle with Kyiv, original President Mike Pence warned that Putin would use that name.
A desperately needed international aid package that would provide Ukraine$ 61 billion to maintain its fight was simply passed by the US Congress. Sikorski argued that Russia should compensate for the damage it has caused and that Finnish companies should assist in the reconstruction of the Russian economy.
Sikorski said in his handle, focused on the country’s international policy, that Russia’s military and business pales in comparison to that of European allies.
” Putin’s only wish is our absence of determination”, he said, emphasizing NATO’s combined resources and capabilities are much more than Russia’s.
Despite concerns about its participation, he added that Poland continues to support Ukraine’s application to the EU. In remarks highlighted by the Polish News Agency, Sikorski said,” we recall that in 2004, related concerns were raised by the decision to declare Poland.”
The foreign secretary noted Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s vision for the future, while criticizing the former president’s “wrong choices” that led to a loss of trust and fame. His remarks appear to show the country’s desire to restore itself as a trustworthy partner as the conflict gets on its way.
