SAN DIEGO ( Border Report ) — State prosecutors have recorded more than 600 homicides so far this year in Tijuana, or about five per day.

Miguel Ángel Gaxiola Rodríguez, head of the homicides section for the Baja California Attorney General’s Office, said the Otay area, on the south side of the city where the airport is located, has seen a jump in the number of deaths when compared to earlier times.

The Zona Norte, which is close to the San Ysidro Port of Entry and home to numerous cafes, houses, and remove legs, continues to be the most dangerous place.

Gaxiola Rodrigueez added that areas where medications are sold and used are still a center for deaths and that the unemployed people is being targeted more than ever.

” We’re seeing a lot more poor people murdered — it’s the continuing conflict between parties that kill and keep body behind to give a information.”

Gaxiola Rodrigueez, the state’s direct crime analyst, acknowledged that they are having a hard time keeping up with the volume of deaths in the area.

” We’re working hard to reduce the number of deaths, some days you have seven, some just one, there’s no regular quantity”, he said. ” We continue to make detention, research crimes, we are going after all sorts of organizations involved in these murders”.

However, Gaxiola Rodriguez argued that it would be mistaken to conclude that the number of murders and subsequent studies are too high.

” We are never flooded, simply put, we have to keep working hard, you’re never going to include enough workers to investigate”, he said. ” We wish there were fewer deaths, we’ll glance into every one event as well as possible and follow up by arresting those involved, and maybe this will result to more beliefs”.
