The Biden administration has now turned its attention to another political hotspot: the Indo-Pacific, after successfully securing more U.S. tax dollars to fend for themselves against their friends in Ukraine.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken is meeting with senior Chinese Communist Party leaders, including Wang Yi, his rival, Foreign Minister, in China this year. Meetings are anticipated to centre on a number of issues between Beijing and Washington, including the Chinese government’s growing aggression in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea. During Thursday talks with CCP officials in Shanghai, Blinken reportedly “raised concerns about ( Chinese ) trade policies and non- market economic practices”, according to the State Department.
However, President Joe Biden has failed to demonstrate competence in the United States authority in a humiliating way by raising concerns and showing it. Since taking office, America’s 46th president has crippled his nation’s market and national independence, while executing a fatal foreign policy plan that’s permitted China’s rise to get almost uncontested.
When the Kids Are Ahead, the Children Will Play
Chinese President Xi Jinping has used Biden’s sluggish administration to advance his own goals, including challenging the current U.S.-led world order and advancing Beijing’s regional states throughout the Indo-Pacific.
In the South China Sea, Chinese military vessels have spent the past many decades harassing the Philippines, a U. S. treaty ally. The Second Thomas Shoal, a covered coast in the South China Sea, is where sailors are now stationed in the Philippines. In order to assert its sovereignty over the area, Manila purposefully grounded the deliver it in 1999.
During subsequent daily are- supply missions to the shoal, Spanish vessels have come under siege from the Taiwanese coast guard, whose ships have deployed “grey- zone” tactics” quite as use of water cannon, collision and driving tactics”, according to Reuters. Much like Manila, Beijing claims sovereignty over the region.
Since Biden took office, China’s aggression toward Taiwan has risen significantly. Taiwan’s defense ministry reported in January that 1,709 Chinese warplanes had entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone in 2023. While the total is a slight decline from the 1, 738 detected in 2022, it’s an almost 76 percent increase from” the 972 reported in 2021 — the first full year they were commonplace”, according to Newsweek.
Notably, China recently called Biden and Xi to request that they fly over to Taiwan in response to a number of warplanes and naval ships.
The People’s Liberation Army Navy has also been accused of attacking the island’s waters by Taipei’s defense ministry. Following then- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in August 2022, China conducted , live- fire military exercises in and around the Taiwan Strait. Beijing has frequently sent its military vehicles across the Strait’s median line, which has been used as a buffer zone between the two countries for decades, to alter the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.
These actions do n’t even include China’s repeated threats to American military installations in the Indo-Pacific or its opposition to Japanese rule over the Senkaku Islands.
Aggression at Home Is a Compromise Linked to Aggression at Home
Given the destructive behavior and policies Biden has orchestrated at home, China’s growing aggression abroad is n’t surprising.
On top of crippling the U. S. economy through massive government spending and restrictive regulations, the Delaware Democrat and his team of Marxist malcontents have done little ( if anything ) to counter Beijing’s growing interference in America’s domestic affairs. For instance, in February 2022, Biden’s utterly corrupt Department of Justice stopped a CCP anti-espionage program because, wait for it, agency officials were concerned it would be viewed as racist.
By putting cases under the China Initiative rubric, Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen said,” we helped give rise to a harmful perception that the department investigates and prosecutes criminal conduct related to that country” or that we in some way view people with racial, ethnic, or family ties to China differently.
A Chinese national was detained last month for attempting to drive onto a California Marine Corps base without permission, something that is worth noting. Military .com notes that there have been “growing concerns in recent years regarding an apparent influx of Chinese intelligence efforts made around military installations and involving service members.”
And do n’t forget when a Chinese spy balloon slammed into American airspace and the Obama administration waited until after it traversed the entire Lower 48 and gathered information from American military installations.
Biden’s” Let everyone in”! Immigration policies have also contributed to problems with U.S. national security, such as the alarming rise in Chinese nationals being detained at the U.S. Mexico border. A fact sheet from the House Committee on Homeland Security, which revealed” so far in FY24, 24 Chinese nationals have been encountered at the Southwest border,” was released last week. That figure, in the eyes of the report, is higher than the number of Chinese nationals who have visited the border during the fiscal year 2023.
These unethical enforcement practices also pose a threat to military installations in U.S.-controlled areas like Guam, where authorities have been concerned about the influx of Chinese nationals trying to enter the island in recent weeks. 118 Chinese nationals have been documented trying or succeeding illegally into Guam since 2022, according to Pacific Daily News, and several have been identified as potential security threats on federal watchlists. Officials in Iceland claimed that the Biden administration’s deportation restrictions are putting pressure on the issue.
A New World Order?
Biden’s domestic and foreign policy failures ( thus far ) are too numerous to detail in one article. But the point remains: America — and the world — cannot afford another four years of Biden as president.
The destruction wrought by his administration has completely destabilized the world’s security environment, not just causing millions of Americans to suffer, but it has also completely caused suffering. Is there a semblance that Russia decided to invade Ukraine while Biden was in office, or is that a coincidence? or that Hamas would launch Israel’s most deadly terrorist attack to date? or that North Korea and Iran would grow more violent?
Whether it’s botching the U. S. withdrawal from Afghanistan or leaving America’s border wide open, Biden’s suicidal policies have invited the world’s greatest threats to lash out and advance their agendas without fear of repercussions.
Adversaries such as China recognize weakness — and in Biden, that’s exactly what they see. If not effectively challenged with strong American leadership, Xi’s goal of making China the world’s leading superpower by 2049 may become reality sooner than expected.
