The Commanders surprised Green by having him learn one more line at the end of a wonderful, wonder video statement in which Green assumed he was simply recording a pre-drafting message from the team to coming draft picks.

Darrell Green would be a first-place vote inductee in either case if you were to inductee a hall of fame or leave the number of people who were not only great but “did it the right way.” Not only was he the most dominant corner of his era and the fastest man in the league for much of his career, but he was also not in trouble, not disrespectful, not a showman, not selfish, and usually a great and loyal teammate and competitor.
