A Henry County election official who has been criticized for making errors in new referendums claims that her company is working to improve reliability for upcoming elections.

Ameika Banks, executive director of Henry County Elections & Voter Registration, said she plans to increase the number of people who proofread ballots before they are finalized and to include those same people in eligible individuals so they know who is running for office.

She added that to include additional security against errors, town clerks from Henry’s four municipalities will also be asked to review the ballots.

Recently, the Elections & Voters Registration department received criticism after removing test votes for the May 21 primary’s primary in Henry County. This is in response to an concern from early election last October, when Hampton residents improperly had the option to cast ballots for just one candidate in a race for many people. They were supposed to choose three.

The town of Stockbridge elected a councilperson for District 2 in an effort to correct the Hampton problem, which resulted in more trouble.

On Tuesday, Banks apologized to the Henry County Commission for not including the head competition on the test ballot. ” I want to do that formally”.

First voting for&nbsp, the May primary&nbsp, begins Monday and Banks said the vote are accurate and will include the competition for state head. Henry, the next- fastest growing county in subway Atlanta, has about 194, 500 registered electors.

Some directors remained wary that Banks had done much to prevent mistakes in the future.

A program to test voter accuracy up until the day before the election, according to Commissioner Kevin Lewis, was what he received from Banks. He also expressed regret that the office did n’t have the necessary knowledge of individual races to identify errors, especially when errors are reported by elections officials from Henry County’s municipalities.

Banks claims that the Hampton problem was caused by officials in the small north Henry hamlet.

” It concerns me that we do n’t have this stuff right before election time”, he said. ‘ I do n’t want to see Henry County on the local news, the national news, any news. I want citizens to know that they will receive the correct vote when they turn up to the polls.

Carlotta Harrell, the current head of the Henry Commission, and past Henry Commissioner Vivian Thomas and Marion Calhoun, both running for reelection, claim that the election office blew the whistle.

” You got a list of races that are supposed to be on the vote,” Harrell said”. That should have been caught because you know what races are up in the gubernatorial, presidential, and even in the municipal ( contests ).”
