Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated in an interview with CNN National Security Correspondent Kylie Atwood on Friday that was aired on Friday’s spread of “CNN News Central” that, despite President Joe Biden’s warnings,” we have seen, frequently speaking, proof of attempts to influence and possibly tamper” in the 2024 vote.
Atwood posed the question,” I want to inquire about a promise that President Xi made to President Biden when they met in November.” He assured Biden, according to a report from us, that China would not interfere with the future US national elections. However, there have been reports of virtual Chinese accounts that fabricated Trump supporters since then. Do you think that these addresses violate President Xi’s dedication”?
Blinken answered,” What I can tell you is this: President Biden was quite clear about that with President Xi, and I repeated that now, in my sessions. We are paying close attention to any interference by China in our vote and find it completely undesirable.
He even stated,” Appearance, it’s something we’re tracking very carefully. I ca n’t speak to these specific reports. I can say that, as a general problem, we’ve been very clear with China, do n’t do it”.
Atwood therefore asked,” But they’re not violating the commitment but, as far as you can tell”?
Blinken responded,” Well, suddenly, I’d have to look at the precise information that you’re referring to, but we have seen, generally speaking, proof of attempts to influence and possibly interfere, and we want to make sure that that’s cut off as quickly as possible”.
