While voters in America argue about which political party is the “problem ” in Washington, D. C. There is a second branch of government that no one talks about, which “sometimes holds more energy than the presidency, ” according to Brody Mullins, a former investigative reporter for the Wall Street Journal and co-author of the forthcoming book, The Wolves of K Street, in an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday.

Mullins discussed his book, which is scheduled to be released on May 7, and explained that the “Wolves of K Street ” refer to the “corporate lobbyists ” in America who actually run the show behind the scenes.

“People talk about how, you know, the Democrats are the issue, or the Republicans are the issue in Washington. And, you know, administrations come and go and the marsh still remains the equal, ” Mullins explained. “So, we wanted to dig deeper and say, ‘ What’s really at the core of the problems in Washington? ’ and we look at the lobbying area. ”

Corporate activists have spent a lot of money on Washington, they have both events in their hands, and they have been able to pass whatever they want for the past 40 or 50 times. And, that ’s really what we tried to expose, ” Mullins continued. How much money do companies spend to alter common plan in a way that benefits them while causing harm to the rest of us? ”

Mullins explained that college students majoring in “political science ” end up learning “how Washington works, ” and that there are “three branches of government, and there’s checks and balances. ”

“These branches of government are constantly in stress trying to create and complete regulations that are democratic, ” Mullins explained. There is another branch of government, and that is commercial America and business activists, and they have a few times more authority than the president, but what no one mentions is that. There are a number of instances in the history of American presidents who attempted to pass legislation they believed was beneficial for the country, Republicans and Democrats, but were blocked by corporate America because corporations have such strong control in Washington. ”

One example of how lobbyists tend of have so much influence in Washington is House Speaker Mike Johnson ’s (R-LA ) top policy adviser ,  Dan Ziegler. Ziegler had previously worked as a lawyer for the firm Williams & & before joining Johnson’s office as his best policy adviser. Jensen.

Ziegler compiled a customer list while working as a lawyer, which includes a number of businesses that are interested in having the United States send aid to Ukraine. Prior to Johnson pushing forward a$ 95 billion foreign package, which sent$ 61 billion in aid to Ukraine, he had been an opponent of sending more aid to Ukraine.

Mullins continued to explain that the work of a lawyer is to offer as a “translator, “guide, ” and a “sherpa for a business. ”

“Let’s say you ’ve got some company in Minnesota and there’s some clean air regulation that ’s hurting their business, and they say, ‘ Hey, you know, how do I get around this regulation? ’ or, ‘How do I drive up this legislation? ’ or, ‘How do I agree with this legislation? ’ And, the provincial government is so complicated. The principles themselves, they are written by professionals. You need someone in Washington who can explain what the rules is because they are very difficult to understand. ”

“And, next, who is the right people to actually speak to about this legislation? That’s where a lawyer comes in. A lawyer for a company will say,” Okay, you need to talk to people, not at the Environmental Protection Agency, but which department or division at the EPA you need to talk to,” and which committees or divisions does each of these fifty-five members of Congress care about this restriction or regulations, and which committees or subcommittees are they on. ”

“The another part of the lobbyist’s task is to have the partnership with the member of Congress, and the way you do that, however, is through cash, ” Mullins explained. When the lobbyist names and says, ‘ Hey member of Congress Johnson, I have this client of mine from Minnesota who has a problem with the clean air regulation, I take them to breakfast, lunch, or sometimes playing golf at charity trips, or riding on charity outings. May I ask him to come to your business and reveal his issue to you so that I can assist him? ‘ ”

“So, I think that ’s essentially what a lawyer does. establishing a personal relationship with the powerful individuals on Capitol Hill, next interacting with the customers and introducing them to a discussion. There’s everything wrong with any of that. It’s all protected by the First Amendment, ” Mullins said. The issue is that businesses these days have the resources to employ lobbyists to try to change the law. The rest of us, the small man, we don’t include activists. But, very few people are looking out for our passions and that ’s truly the problem. Businesses have their say in the legislature, and neither one is advocating for us. ”
