The racist protests that have swept colleges like Columbia University in New York are being addressed by a bipartisan work.
In response to racism at Columbia and other places that has left Hebrew students and staff at campuses fearing for their security, Republican Representative Mike Lawler and Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres, both of New York, have joined forces to offer legislation.
The U.S. Department of Education’s ( COLUMBIA ) Act, which was introduced by the lawmakers on Friday, would put a third-party monitor in place. It would also put a third-party monitor in place.
In a statement, Lawler said,” We must work to ensure the safety of pupils, and rising hatred on our school schools is a major issue.” I’m pleased to collaborate with my friend and colleague Ritchie Torres on policy that will establish a third-party hatred check on campus to maintain security is in location and control any disturbing actions taken by college administrators. Congress must act if institutions are unwilling to protect their kids.
Antisemitism has been pervasive on university campuses throughout our nation. My policy, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, will help maintain pupils who commit racist attacks on their contemporaries are held responsible. photograph. twitter.com/tJF0w67ULH

According to a press release, the screen, which would be funded by the institution, “would launch a publicly accessible website weekly report” evaluating in detail the progress that a college or university has made in the fight against antisemitism on campus and making policy recommendations to Congress, the Secretary, and state and local regulators as needed.”
Any school that does not agree may lose federal financing, according to the proposed legislation.
Campus hatred is at an all-time great, and American colleges are not capable of handling it when left to their own devices, as we have seen over the last quarter a year since October 7. I have spoken with many Israeli students from campuses all over the country who feel incredibly uneasy simply as a result of their religious and ethnic backgrounds. The federal government may allow this to continue unchecked, according to Torres in a statement. This is a blatant violation of Title VI.
The senator continued,” I am prepared to do something about it. This past week’s turmoil at Columbia is not an isolated incident — it is the grass that has broken the camel’s up.” ” That’s why I am introducing the COLUMBIA Act now, and I urge all of my acquaintances in the House, from both parties, to visit me in this critical behavior. Israeli students have told me in my business that they feel totally abandoned by their school administrators and that Congress is their only source of accountability and safety. This honor our word to them and find this done”.
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamanei, who is the world’s top state sponsor of terrorism, has weighed in and enthusiastically endorsed Anti-Israel provocateurs in the US.

Lawler reiterated that he represents “one of the largest Jewish communities in the country” and that it is” totally unacceptable” to witness” this rabid hatred that is taking over universities like Columbia.”

” These children are part of the membership prize technology that have never been told’ no’ in their life and it needs to start happening”, Lawler, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, added.
