Remember the time 15 years ago when Rep. Joe Wilson yelled out,” You lie!!!” when President Barack Obama said his plan for educated medicine had hardly extend to illegitimate aliens? Consider how Democrats and their advertising drivers all criticized Wilson for lying and his lack of decorum?
Wilson , was  , wrong at the time. Obama was wrong to not criticize him for lying about Democrats ‘ plan to steal taxpayer money to  and give to their future voters. He was wrong to say” You lie”! at every series that came out of Obama’s teeth. Yet NPR gave Obama the” Lay of the Year” nomination in 2013 over Obamacare, and NPR , only employs Democrats.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA ), which is ridiculously named, will expire in March. It is the crowning instance of the Democrats saying that they , only! need! to! aid! folks!  , but passing power catches that just help themselves. Obama also found a way to spin the derogative” Obamacare” into the capture- phrase,” Yes, Obama , cares”!
The ACA was promised to make clinics across America content places with rainbow skies and chocolate rivers, where children can dance, laugh, and play with lollipop smiles, many like , before Team America Iraq. But, what we’ve gotten rather is incompetence, enormous profits for horizontally integrated insurance companies, and also AI- backed healthcare rationing.
When cybercriminals outwitted UnitedHealth Group in late February, Obamacare just displayed its stupidity. The , section of UnitedHealth Group that transmits says, Change Healthcare, was the subject of , a ransom attack, delaying payment for prescriptions, doctors, and everything else. The consequences of UnitedHealth disregarding adequate cybersecurity are already disastrous because the company processes 15 billion transactions annually.
The cyberattack is such a big deal that the Senate Finance Committee next week is holding a , hearing , on the subject, where they will ( one hopes ) hold the feet of UnitedHealth CEO Andrew Witty to the fire. The House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a , similar hearing , on May 1.
The most obvious question to ask is,” How can you not afford decent cybersecurity”? UnitedHealth has been making record profits as a result of Obamacare. Last year, its net profits were ,$ 22.4 billion, and it’s in the running to become the first healthcare conglomerate with a ,$ 1 trillion market cap.
So, it seems like the company could afford some , white hats. It increased premiums 13 percent last year, so that money has to go somewhere, right? Certainly not into the pockets of CEO Witty, who just made a modest ,$ 25 million  , last year.
It appears that you can get away with a lot when you have a government-backed monopoly.
One of the reasons UnitedHealth makes record profits is because it rations healthcare. The business used AI to systemically deny benefits to customers through a middleman called NaviHealth. United Health, an insurer monopoly, is increasingly trying to control every aspect of patient care, and technology is easing that process. So, if you’re one of the , 52 percent of Americans , worried about the future of AI, do n’t worry: the bad stuff is already here.
It could get worse though.
From 2019 to 2022, AARP spent more than$ 60 million to push , a “rent seeking” provision , in the Inflation Reduction Act – legislation so dishonestly named that it makes the Affordable Care Act almost sound honest. This provision allows Medicare to engage in so- called “negotiations” with pharmaceutical manufacturers over prices. The issue is that making companies an offer they ca n’t refuse by imposing a 95 percent tax on them if they do n’t agree is n’t a negotiation at all. And AARP ‘s , victory lap article , left it unsaid how these negotiation requirements would benefit private insurers who subsidize AARP. Moreover, the IRA expands subsidies under ACA to private insurance providers, which will help pad those billion- dollar profits even more.
According to American Commitment President Phil Kerpen , the organization that promotes free market policy,” Under the IRA insurers like UnitedHealth are in line for a financial windfall with enormous subsidies for Obamacare policies and government price controls dictating the pricing of many medicines.”

Obamacare is a snake oil of the 21st century. It seems like when Obama said:” If you like your plan, you can keep it”,” This wo n’t cover illegal aliens”,” This wo n’t add a dime to the deficit”, or even” Obama cares”, what he , meant , was:” We will make your healthcare a badly run vertically integrated monopoly that will withhold care, enrich executives, and expose you to hackers”.
Both Obama and Wilson are still in DC, so maybe it’s time for a rematch. This time, Wilson can just say,” I told you so”.
