After organizing the ceremonial killing of a rooster as an “offering to a weather lord,” a Mexican lawmaker from the Morena Party received widespread criticism. One of the gardens of Mexico’s national republic building was where the incident occurred.
This year, Mexican Senator Alfredo Gomez Hernandez organized a gathering of indigenous people to make a number of options to the weather god Tlaloc.
Many people decried the ceremony on social media after they saw it on video.

A person wearing indigenous clothing used a knife to cut off the pig’s head during the ceremony, with the person holding the chicken’s head downward. A next man danced around while the decapitated chicken bled out while a fourth man strode up a jar filled with spices and smoked ashes. How the team managed to pass protection with the knife is still a mystery.
Mexico’s Senate issued a formal declaration distancing itself from the affair and claiming that Gomez Hernandez was the only one who performed the ceremony and did not represent the organization in the process.

Gomez Hernandez responded to a question about it by saying that the ceremony was deemed to be talk protected by the Mexican Constitution’s Uses and Customs section. He warned that people needed to be polite.

The situation has sparked a lot of debate over theological differences. The Morena Party posted a photo of a T-shirt featuring Saint Death and a concept promoting present president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador earlier this week on social media.
