The protesters in the camps have demanded a peace in the Israeli-Hamas conflict, for universities to withdraw from Jewish companies, for Israel to cease study abroad programs, and for the US government to stop arming Israel.
” It’s a great American value to protest, but I do n’t believe living in a pup tent for Hamas is really helpful”, Fetterman said.

Anti- Israel demonstrations and camps have been popping up on college and university campuses for as Northwestern University, the University of California Los Angeles, Harvard University, George Washington University, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Pennsylvania.
The anti-Israel demonstrations and outposts support a first-ever camp that was set up at Columbia University.
Since the start of the extra- Israel encampments, students at many universities and colleges have been suspended, those participating in the camps have been arrested, and graduating ceremonies have been canceled.

Fetterman continued on to quote statements made by Khymani James, one of the rulers of the anti-Israel camp at Columbia University, that there was a “germ of hatred in all of these protests and then it flares up.
” One of the frontrunners in Columbia said some really terrible things talking about,’ Well, they’re happy I’m never killing Zionists,’ and things like that. And, finally he defended himself by saying,’ Well, those were taken out of context,’ and I’m like, properly those are quite similar to the way the university presidents, same kind of speech”.
Since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, assault on Israel, which left 1, 200 people dying and more than 200 individuals taken as hostages, racist happenings in the United States have risen.
In the three months after Hamas’s strike, the Anti- Defamation League reported , there had been almost 3, 291 racist incidents, a 360 cent raise.
Since Hamas’s strike, Fetterman has defended Israel and criticized extra- Israel activists.
