Retired Federal Judge J. Michael Luttig said , Sunday on MSNBC’s” Velshi” that the Supreme Court was fiddling as former President Donald Trump’s exemption claims are an “existential risk to America’s democracy”.
According to Luttig,” The Supreme Court has then fiddled while the Rome has nearly burned to the ground, all but trivializing the existential risk to the country’s democracy and the rule of rules.” America’s politics and rule of law are the heart and soul of the state. Our democracy and the rule of law have been the source of America’s beacon of freedom for about 250 times. The rule of law and democracy in America were at stake in Donald Trump’s effort to overturn the 2020 presidential vote. His attempts to reverse the election resulted in his being barred from the president under the 14th Amendment, and he was also subject to legal action for his crimes against the United States. But 3 1/2 decades later, the former president has remained proudly stubborn”.
He continued,” This year, he argued, as you said to a sympathetic Supreme Court, that he is absolutely immune from prosecution for his offenses and that all presidents may be completely immune from prosecution for the crimes they commit while in business,” so that he and all other presidents will be complimentary to diligently do the laws without fear of being held responsible for the crimes they commit while in office. That is an immoral defense brought up by the Supreme Court, and it insults both the Constitution and our nation.
