Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY ) stated on Sunday on” Meet the Press” that a national abortion ban could n’t win 60 Senate votes, so the issue would be resolved in the states.
According to network Kristen Welker,” I want to talk about abortion, which is one of the biggest issues facing people all over this country right today.” Up in 2022 you said a federal ban was possible. But as I sit here now I want to inquire you, head McConnell, may you help a national ban on abortion”?
McConnell said,” I said it was feasible. I did n’t say that was my view. I just said it was feasible. And the reason I said it was probable is that the Supreme Court has reinstated this case to the legislative branch, and that it is happening all over the nation. In the end, I believe it will reflect the opinions of these people ‘ respective states. But I did not say, I said possible, I did n’t say that was my view. I do n’t think we’ll get 60 votes in the Senate for any kind of national legislation. I think it’s a practical problem. It’s going to be sorted out at the express level”.
