
Greece’s navy announced on Sunday that it had discovered the body of a man who had perished when a migrant vessel sank near the island of Samos.
It said 25 persons it described as “foreigners” were spotted on a” semi- submerged boat… and rescued from the water east of the South Aegean area”.
According to the navy, they were well-versed and transported to the dock of Vathi.
With the assistance of the European Union borders company Frontex, searches for missing persons were already taking place.
This year, there has been a surge in illegal migrants in Greece.
