PRESIDENT OF THE 87-Year-OLD PEOPLE’S FIRST APPEAL IN VICTORY FOR SECONDARY SECONDARY IN THE VENEZICAN CITY On Sunday, Pope Francis made a visit to a prison for women in Venice in advance of a mass in the wet area.
Given concerns over Francis ‘ delicate health, who has thoroughly traveled the world during his 11 years as pontiff but has not since visited Marseille in September, may be closely watching the one-day trip there.
Arriving by aircraft at 8: 00am nearby day to the yard of the children’s prison on the island of Giudecca, the bishop greeted one by one the nearly 80 individuals, workers and volunteers.
The pope, who throughout his church has spoken up in defence of captives and the marginalised, encouraged the people to replicate their life “brick upon brick, along, with willpower” during their time behind bars.
” Prison is a terrible reality, and problems such as homelessness, the lack of facilities and resources, and incidents of violence, give rise to a great deal of suffering it”, he said, sitting in front of the captives.
It may also turn into a position of moral and material resurrection. he added.
Francis called on the prison method to “offer detainees the tools and room for people, religious, ethnic and specialized growth, creating the conditions for their good reintegration”.
The pope also took a tour of the art exhibit at the prison that examines the daily lives of the prisoners through the work of ten different artists.
The exhibit is the Vatican’s entry for this year’s Biennale festival of art, which began last weekend.
Francis’s visit represents” a historic moment because he will be the first pope to visit the Venice Biennale”, said the exhibition’s lead curator, Jose Tolentino de Mendonca.
The pope had to cancel a trip to Dubai last December because of a bronchitis outbreak that had forced him to address UN climate talks.
He also abruptly canceled an Easter celebration in March after coming down with what the Vatican called a “light flu.”
    – Mass on St Mark’s Square-
The pope will address young people at the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, a revered structure on the south end of the Grand Canal, following the prison visit.
Starting at 11:00 am, he will head to St. Mark’s Square via a bridge constructed with boats stacked up across the canal, and lead a mass there.
He is due to depart Venice in the early afternoon, having become the fourth pope to visit the city, after Paul VI ( 1972 ), Jean- Paul II ( 1985 ) and Benedict XVI ( 2011 ).
The diocese of Venice is one of the largest in Italy, with 125 parishes, and has close ties with the papacy. In the 20th century, three Venice patriarchs became popes.
Francis ‘ visit occurs on the same weekend as Venice introduces a new entry fee for day trippers in an effort to lower the pressure of tourism on the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Catholic Church’s head will not be required to purchase a five-euro ($ 5.30 ) ticket as a guest, but pilgrims who are not residents of the city who are attending his mass will be required to pay.
The pontiff, who uses a wheelchair, has suffered increasing health problems in recent years, from knee pain to surgery for a hernia and on his colon.
Despite his health, the Vatican is planning an ambitious 12- day trip to Asia in September, taking in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, East Timor and Singapore.
The pope is scheduled to travel to Verona in May and Trieste in July before that.
