Students at Columbia University have until 2 p.m. ( local time ) on Monday to leave the pro-Palestinian camp that has occupied a central lawn on the campus and issuing a warning that they will be subject to an immediate suspension if they do not do so by that time.
If students sign a form promising to follow college guidelines through the end of the following academic year, they will not be punished for their cooperation.
The warning came after Columbia’s president Nemat Shafik claimed organizers and academic staff could n’t come to an agreement that would end a stalemate over the encampment, which the administration claims violates university regulations.
