
Two people are accused of killing a , U. S. Army , senior,  , Utah , representatives said.
In , February 2022,  , Mario Alberto Carreto- Morales , and , Raul Jaimes Cortez , met the survivor, after identified as , Cesar Martinez, for the first time at a park bit in , West Valley City, according to an , April 25 , media release by the , Salt Lake County , District Attorney , Sam Gill.
The trio asked Martinez for a trip to Cortez’s Magna flat and Martinez agreed, authorities said.
The three” spent some time” in the home’s driving significant before Carreto- Morales told Cortez he wanted to rob Martinez, lawyers said.
Martinez, 37, had been drinking so the couple offered to drive him home, authorities said. One of the men stabbed Martinez repeatedly while driving in his vehicle and wrapped a copper wire around his neck.
According to authorities, Martinez attempted to leave by opening the car door before being shoved out by one of the people.
Martinez, who enjoyed hiking, running and cruising, was born in , Los Angeles, California, according to his article. He served two tours in , Iraq , and two trips in , Afghanistan , as a Staff Sgt.
In , March 2022, the two gentlemen even kidnapped and robbed another man in , Park City, officials said. The prey was forced to make a withdrawal from an ATM.
According to the prosecution, Carreto- Morales was given a 15-year prison sentence for misdemeanor theft and a 15-year sentence for murder. The sentences may run continuously.
Cortez has yet to be sentenced, authorities said.
West Valley City  , is about a 10- km drive west of , Salt Lake City.
