Sen. Tom Cotton ( R- AR ) is pressuring the mayor of Washington, DC, Democrat Muriel Bowser, to get out of the way of the Metropolitan Police Department ( MPD ) and let cops clear the rowdy leftist protesters off the campus of George Washington University.
This is just the latest escalation between Senate Republicans and D.C. leaders when it comes to the state’s Democratic soft-on-crime policies, along with Republicans pressing officials to prevent these antisemitic presentations.

In a letter to Bowser on Monday that was obtained solely by Breitbart News prior to its people release, Cotton wrote in a letter to Bowser that protestors have “occupied” George Washington University’s school and are demanding that the university devote its Jewish identity. Last week, school officials requested assistance from the D.C. Metro Police, but even as they were getting ready, the mayor’s office told officers to stand down and said it would be offensive for authorities to disrupt a” small number of relaxing protestors.” I’m writing to inform you: What looks terrible officially is D. C. allowing a group of racist, helmet- wearing fanatics who call for an’ intifada revolution’ to change a university into a pro- Hamas encampment”.

The school, which is located close to the State Department in Foggy Bottom and is located in the heart of the world’s capital, is not unlike many other major institutions like Columbia or UCLA, which have had pro-Palestine demonstrations occupy the schools ‘ facilities. In the case of George Washington University, though, as the Washington Post reported this weekend, school officials requested support from the MPD to eradicate them but the MPD apparently, at Bowser’s purchases, declined to do so.

Cotton’s letter directly urges Bowser to reverse course and allow the police to carry out their duties. In addition, Cotton contends that Bowser did not stand in the way of police clearing the protesters if they were opposing policies that Democrats supported, such as soft-on-crime policies in D.C.
” I have no doubt that if protestors were improperly gathered in opposition to Washington, D. C.’s fatal report on crime, you may have immediately ordered the police to intervene”, Cotton wrote. By allowing a terrorist-supporting mob to take control a sizable portion of a university, you are failing to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens, whether it is as a result of incompetence or sympathy for the cause of these Hamas supporters. Your actions are a good reminder of why Washington, D. C. must never become a state. I’m urging you to reconsider your choice and allow the D.C. police to uphold the law.
