The Chicago Police Department has made more than 1, 000 prosecutions of Venezuelan refugees in the first three months of 2024, crime statistics that&nbsp, the Chicago Tribune&nbsp, published&nbsp, reveals.

The Tribune only reviewed crime statistics of the monastery state’s Cuban people, as 40, 000 have arrived since August 2022. Although the Chicago Police Department does not keep track of immigration detention, it does keep track of the country of origin of those detained, even though that information is no recorded in around 14 % of cases.

Between January and March 2024, the Chicago Police Department made more than 1, 000 prosecutions of Colombian workers.

Put another way, while recently arrived Cuban migrants make up only 1.5 percentage of Chicago’s 2.6 million people, they have accounted for 11.11 percentage of all detention in the first three weeks of 2024, when officials recorded the arrestees ‘ country of origin.

According to Chicago City Councilman Raymond Lopez ( D), who has pushed for the elimination of the city’s sanctuary policy and halting the flow of illegal immigration, “quality of life laws” are not being upheld, and as a result, crime is roiling around migrant shelters.

According to Lopez, “politically, we have an atmosphere where we make excuses for those low-level acts as something that should be forgiven or ignored without realizing that it has a really genuine snowball effect in our districts,” Lopez said.

In general, in the 19 times since Venezuelan migrants have arrived in Chicago, 21 people have been detained for allegedly committing violent crimes, including Elvis Hernandez-Pernalete, 28, who was arrested in March for allegedly sexually assaulting and robbering a lady he followed off a train.

Hernandez-Pernalete allegedly assaulted another person in an attempt to steal her, but the woman fled when a passing member noticed what was happening.

According to statistics from the Chicago Police Department in 2023, Venezuelan migrant detention have increased by more than 11 000 % since 2021.

In 2021, for instance, &nbsp, the Chicago Police Department arrested only six Venezuelan migrants. By later November 2023, roughly 700 Citizens had been arrested.
