Americans were advised to examine their bags before entering Turks and Caicos on September 22, 2023 by a travel notice from the U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas because carrying guns or ammunition would result in a” judicial sentence of 12 times.”

Firearms, weapons, and other weapons are never permitted in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI). TCI regulators firmly uphold all laws relating to firearms. The penalty for traveling to TCI with a firearm, ammunition, or other weapon is a minimum custodial sentence of twelve ( 12 ) years.
We want to tell all travelers that you will be detained if you declare a tool in your suitcases with an aircraft carrier and that this will result in your arrest.
Before departing for TCI, the Embassy urged travelers to thoroughly assess their baggage for lost or misplaced weaponry. We may not be able to stable your release from custody if you bring a gun or weapons into TCI.
When four shells of shooting weapons were discovered in Oklahoma native Ryan Watson’s baggage on his way back to the United States on April 12, 2024, he was detained.
According to CBS News, Watson believes that” the weapons may have been left in his backpack after he went hunting in Texas.”
Watson is now on bond, but according to USA Today, he may keep Turks and Caicos because his court date is set for June 7, 2024.
He is required to turn in his card and travel papers to the court and to turn in his reports to the police twice a week as his situation progresses through the system.
On April 24, 2024, the U. S. Embassy in the Bahamas issued another vacation notice regarding Turks and Caicos.
The call again , stressed,” If you bring a rifle or weapons into Turks and Caicos Islands, yet mistakenly, we may not be able to stable your release from custody.  , You are content to TCI regulations and may follow local law enforcement processes”.
