Former US president Donald Trump has “repeatedly expressed skepticism about her political aspirations” in the crucial state of Arizona, according to The Washington Post.
The paper cites five — count them, FIVE — people who did n’t want to be named, so you know it’s totes legit.
According to a person with clear understanding of his remarks, Trump carefully suggested to Lake that she should leave the Mar-a-Lago Club and plan on the campaign trail in Arizona at one point last month, after gushing for months that she was at his Mar-a-Lago Club too frequently, according to a man with clear understanding of his comments. Trump has also questioned whether she can actually earn in Arizona and whether she might pull down his own ballot figures as he seeks the president once more in 2024, according to advisers.
The shop notes that there’s been” no open conflict between Trump and Lake” and acknowledges that Lake “was at Mar- a- Lago once this quarter for a fundraiser”, but insists that, since Lake launched her pay to become the GOP’s Senate nominee in Arizona, “tension” has been building between the two Republicans.

Trump’s dissatisfaction with Lake has only increased over the past year, raising questions about whether Republicans can put together a strong front in a crucial U.S. Senate race and a state-of-the-moment presidential campaign. Trump has almost ruled out Lake as a vice president, according to several advisers, saying that he would not pick her because he thought she would win the 2022 gubernatorial election in Arizona.
Filled with innuendo and hearsay, the Washington Post article claims,” In January, Arizona Republicans were privately registering alarm to Trump about Lake’s candidacy”.
” During one conversation, the former president asked for an assessment of his standing in the state, according to one person familiar with the conversation”, the outlet reports. The Republican informed him that Lake was in trouble, primarily as a result of her attacks on McCain Republicans, who she urged to “get the hell out” of the GOP during her first run for office.
The former president sure has an odd way of showing there is any tension between Lake and Trump.
When asked by WaPo” a series of detailed questions” for its scoop,” the Trump campaign sent a statement through spokesman Jason Miller”, who is also assisting Lake on her campaign.
Attributed to Trump, the statement read:” Kari Lake is a Smart and Fearless Leader who will WIN in Arizona, and help us flip the Senate to Republican control. Kari’s Opponent, Ruben Gallego, is an Open Borders RADICAL, who is BAD on Inflation and SOFT on Terrorists and Crime”.
Garrett Ventry, a senior adviser to the Lake campaign, said the fiery candidate is one of Trump’s” strongest allies”.
In a statement, Ventry stated that” Kari Lake is running a strong campaign, raising the funds necessary to win in November and highlighting the two main issues that concern voters: inflation and the border crisis.” ” Kari is one of President Trump’s strongest allies. She continues to have a strong lead over her far-left rival, who Arizona voters are still largely unaware of.
And, on Saturday, two days before WaPo’s story was published, President Trump himself called Lake “fantastic”.
At the @AZGOP State Convention, President Donald J. Trump addressed a message to the grassroots patriots, according to Lake’s post on X. ” He truly loves our state. And he supported me for the U.S. Senate because he knew I would never give up on my efforts to put Arizona first.

Trump told the Arizona attendees,” Your state is one of the most crucial battlegrounds in the race for the White House,” adding that Kari Lake will face ultra-left-wing extremist Ruben Gallego in a crucial Senate race.
” He’s the worst”, Trump said. ” He’s bad. He’s so bad”.
Lake, Trump said, is “fantastic”.
” She’s fantastic. She’s a hard worker, and she loves the state”, Trump said. ” She loves our country”.
