
Potrivit to reports, ChatGPT designer OpenAI has reportedly forged a contract with the Financial Times that allows it to train artificial intelligence systems based on the publication’s news information.
According to a report from the Guardian, The Financial Times did receive an unknown payment as part of the agreement.
According to reports, the agreement apparently means that when using ChatGPT, consumers will now see Financial Times articles and summaries when asking the questions, and that links to articles will also be provided in some responses. FT Group CEO John , Ridding said it’s “right” that AI firms pay creators for their materials.
” OpenA I understands the importance of transparency, attribution, and compensation — all essential for us”, Ridding said. It’s also obvious that it’s in the users ‘ best interests to know that these products contain trustworthy sources.
OpenAI has even reportedly signed similar deals with Associated Press, the French magazine Le Monde, Spanish internet business PRISA, and European internet business  , Axel Springer.
Brad Lightcap, the COO of OpenAI, asserted that it was crucial for the AI developer to “represent value news as these items take condition.”
” As with any revolutionary systems, there is potential for significant improvements and big challenges, but what’s not conceivable is turning back day” , , Lightcap added.
Not every entity, however, feels respected by OpenAI, as the AI developer is facing multiple lawsuits.
The New York Times, for example, is suing the company and its largest investor Microsoft, claiming OpenAI used its journalism to train large language models without the newspaper’s permission.
Similarly, authors Jodi Picoult, John Grisham, and Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin are suing OpenAI for copyright infringement in the United States.
Visual media company  , Getty Images, meanwhile, is suing the company behind image generator Stable Diffusion in the United Kingdom over similar allegations.
