Qatar is apparently playing a smaller part as mediator as Israel continues to try to rescue victims who were abducted by Hamas on October 7, with Egypt now taking the lead. Hamas is still a member of Qatar, so there are still conflicting opinions about how the connection will develop. Hamas is reportedly considering leaving Qatar, according to Wall Street Journal. Therefore, Qatar said that Hamas will remain in the country so long as the evil group remains “useful” in conversations. Then, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan stated that he did n’t believe Qatar or Hamas wanted to split up.
Qatar continues to show it is not an honest dealer in securing the launch of the victims, regardless of the potential of the Qatar-Hamas relationship. Qatar continues to publicly denounce Israel and the Jewish people, and it is just one more prominent figure in the jihad that Hamas ( and the Palestinian Authority’s ) are known for. For instance:
Qatar Encourages Brutality Against Israel

Qatar does not have Israel’s best interest in mind during its tenure as hostage negotiator. Qatar has been expressing the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish vitriol that it did right after October 7 and even before that day for almost seven months. Israel should reevaluate its relationship with Qatar in a post-war Gaza and fire Qatar from its position as negotiator. Additionally, the United States should significantly reduce its ties with Qatar and do more to advance and expand the Abraham Accords.
