Arab girl Yehia Hamuda was ejected from southern Gaza after Israeli troops raided the doctor where he was being cared for in the north, two months prematurely as the battle raged there.
Stuck in the northeast, his parents have not seen him since then.
Yehia, who is now five months old, was severn from the north by Israeli military checkpoints by his mother Sondos and father Zakaria as they searched through photos from his home in Jabalia, north Gaza, on a cellular phone.
Sondos said it was too risky to make the 30- miles ( 20- mile ) journey from Jabalia to Rafah.
” There are vehicles and tractors. My husband and I don’t go”, she said. They threatened to murder us. I’m concerned that my brother will end up living only.
According to Jewish records, Yehia was born on November 27 at seven months into the conflict, which was sparked by Hamas fighters storming Israel and causing the death of 1,200 people.
More than 34, 000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s rude, which has laid waste to much of the country, according to wellness officials in the area.
Three months had passed before Yehia’s parents could call the hospital in Rafah to check that he was okay with communication over. They had remained in Jabalia, worried that Rafah may have no where to stay.
” After three times, I saw his picture on the cellular phone. I want to hang him. He needs to be breastfed. Every morning, my stomach hurts. I don’t deal with this”, she said.
The al-Emirati clinic in Rafah’s nurses and health personnel are taking care of Yehia.
Amal Abu Khatla, a nurse at the hospital, said Yehia’s issue had been hard when he first arrived from north Gaza.
” After one week, thank God, his health improved, but we lost contact with his parents, to the point where we thought that the parents had been martyred (killed )”, she said.
She claimed that everyone was taking on themselves that he was” the son of the newborn unit” and that they were “very dependent on him and give him a lot of attention.”
In Jabalia, Yehia’s parents Zakaria aspires to become reunited with him. ” My only hope in existence is to keep my child and for God to bring us together,” he said.
