Harvard Professor and President Emeritus and previous Harvard President Larry Summers called for” near studies” of the funding resources of the latest protests on college campuses and for” a lot soul searching” regarding shifts in university governance on Monday’s broadcast of CNN’s “AC360″ because the” governors, who are the ultimate fiduciaries, who make all these regulations about career and everything else have been much too passive through this episode.”
Summers said,” I think, just as anything on a college campus, when they get money from the outside for their activities, is expected to be responsible, I think there need to be near investigations of how these protest efforts are being funded”.
After criticizing some faculty actions and claiming that some faculty members lack accountability for the actions of some, Summers responded,” I think there needs to be a lot of soul searching about the way universities are governed, and I believe that trustees, who are the ultimate fiduciaries, have been far too passive through this episode.
